Accessibility at OnTheWay Rides

We are committed to making OnTheWay Rides usable by everyone — including riders and drivers who are blind, have low vision, use screen readers, keyboard navigation, voice control, or other assistive technologies.

Our commitment

OnTheWay Rides is committed to improving the accessibility and usability of our website and services. We continue to review and enhance the experience for riders using assistive technologies. We target WCAG 2.2 Level AA across our website, rider app, driver app, and admin dashboard, and we are continuously improving the accessibility of our platform based on real testing with assistive technology and feedback from our community.

Accessibility is a safety-critical requirement for a transportation service. A blind rider must be able to independently book a ride, understand the fare, pay, receive confirmation, know when their driver arrives, identify the correct vehicle, and access their receipt.

Accessibility features

Screen-reader support

Our booking, ride tracking, receipts, and account screens are built with semantic HTML and ARIA so VoiceOver and TalkBack users can navigate independently.

Keyboard navigation

Every action — booking a ride, accepting an offer, contacting support — can be completed with a keyboard alone. No mouse or touchscreen required.

Text resizing & zoom

The platform remains usable at 200% browser zoom and with enlarged mobile text settings. Content reflows instead of clipping.

Spoken ride updates

Ride status changes — driver assigned, on the way, arrived, ride complete — are announced to assistive technology in plain language.

Map alternatives

A text summary of driver distance, ETA, vehicle, and license plate is always available alongside the live map — never the only way to understand your trip.

Clear error messages

Form errors are announced immediately, associated with the correct field, and explained in plain language — never by color alone.

Customize your experience

Adjust how OnTheWay Rides looks and behaves for you — larger text, high contrast, enhanced focus indicators, reduced motion, larger touch targets, and more. Preferences apply instantly and are saved on your device (and to your account when signed in). These settings never restrict access to booking, payment, or safety features.

Requesting assistance

If you need help with a ride, have trouble using the app, or need an accommodation, please contact us. We will respond as quickly as possible.

Report an accessibility issue

Tell us what went wrong. We route every report to the right team and use it to improve.

Wheelchair-accessible vehicles (WAVs)

OnTheWay Rides does not currently guarantee wheelchair-accessible van availability. If you require a WAV, please contact our support team before completing your booking so we can review available options. Riders who can safely transfer into a standard passenger vehicle may request rides through the app or website. Foldable mobility devices that can be safely transported in a standard vehicle are accommodated. Service animals are always welcome and are never treated as pets.

If you mark "WAV required" in your ride preferences, the system will display a clear limitation notice, flag your request for administrative review, and direct you to support. The system will not silently assign a standard vehicle as if it meets your WAV requirement.

Known limitations & ongoing work

We have completed a technical accessibility audit and are continuously applying fixes. Some areas — including complex interactive maps, third-party payment surfaces, and advanced admin data tables — may still require additional manual testing with specific assistive technology configurations. We do not claim full legal compliance; instead, we commit to measurable, ongoing improvement and to responding to every accessibility report we receive.
